Privacy Policy

Version 1.0Effective 2026-11-01اقرأ بالعربيّة

Sinelo is a media player. It plays the sources that you add yourself and provides no content of its own. This policy describes exactly what the app does with information.

In short: the developer does not collect, receive or store any data about you or about what you watch.

What the developer collects

Nothing. Sinelo has no user account, no sign-in to the developer, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no user profiles. It contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting library, and it never sends what you add, what you watch or how you use the app to the developer or to anyone else.

What stays on your device

Everything the app keeps is stored only in its private storage on your device:

  • the sources you add: their names, addresses and sign-in details;
  • the lists of channels, films and series, and the programme guide, downloaded from your sources;
  • your favourites, hidden items, sort orders, watch progress and programme reminders;
  • your settings, such as language, accent colour, player engine and each source's parental code;
  • the date on which you confirmed that you hold the rights to the sources you add, and the version of the Terms of Use in force at that time;
  • a record of the last 20 failures, used only if you choose to send an error report;
  • a technical note about the most recent crash, if the app has crashed;
  • copies of the logos and posters your sources point to, so they do not have to be downloaded again.

Sign-in details are stored encrypted, with a key that stays in the Android keystore on your device. A parental code is stored only as a salted one-way hash, never as readable text. Android's cloud backup is turned off for this app, so a backup does not copy any of this off your device.

Which servers the app connects to

The app connects only to servers that you enter, and to the addresses that your sources list:

  • the server or playlist address you add, to read its lists and to check the status of your subscription with that source;
  • the streams, programme guides and images (logos and posters) at the addresses your source provides, which may be hosted on other servers chosen by that source;
  • a programme guide address that you enter, or one that your playlist names and you choose to use.

It never contacts a server of the developer, and it never contacts any other server on its own initiative. A server on your home network is reached only after you allow Android's local network permission.

If a film in your source lists a trailer and you choose to watch it, the app asks another app on your device, such as a video app or a browser, to open that link. That app's own privacy policy then applies.

Error reports

When something fails, the app may offer a button to send an error report. Nothing is sent unless you press it. Pressing it opens your own email app with a new message addressed to [email protected] and a small text file attached, which you can read before you decide to send it. The file contains only:

  • the app's version and build type, the Android version, and whether the device is a phone, a tablet or a TV;
  • for each of the last 20 failures: when it happened, a number that identifies the playlist inside the app, what was being done, the kind of failure, the server's response code and how long it took.

It never contains a source's address or sign-in details, the name of a channel or film, the name or model of your device, or any identifier of you or your device. The email is sent by your email app, under its own terms, and is used only to answer you and to fix the problem.

Permissions

  • Internet and network state: to reach the servers you add, and to tell when the device is offline.
  • Local network (Android 17 and later): requested only when a source you add is on your home network.
  • Notifications (Android 13 and later): requested only when you set a programme reminder.
  • Media playback in the foreground: so that a stream can keep playing in picture-in-picture.
  • Start at boot and keep the device awake: used by Android's task scheduler to carry out the automatic updates set in each source's settings and your programme reminders.

Google Play

If you install Sinelo from Google Play, Google may, under its own privacy policy, collect crash and freeze reports from your device, if you have allowed Android to share usage and diagnostics data, and show them to the developer in the Google Play Console; the app itself sends nothing.

Deleting your data

When you delete a source, its lists and programme guide are deleted at once. Its favourites and watch progress, with the titles they refer to, are kept on your device for 30 days, so that they come back if you add the same source again under the same name; after 30 days they are no longer restored, and they are removed the next time a source is updated or deleted. The failure record and the crash note are not tied to any source and are replaced by newer entries. To delete everything at once, clear the app's storage in Android's settings, or uninstall the app. The developer holds no data about you, so there is nothing to delete on the developer's side.

Children

Sinelo is not directed at children. Each source has its own parental settings, protected by a code, that can hide adult content. Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy carries a version number and an effective date. When it changes, the version number changes and the new text is delivered with an app update.
